Coulter is "Malevolent" in Godless Based on What She Wrote in a Previous Book

In her previous book Slander, Coulter wrote, "So which women are constantly being called ugly? Is it Maxine Walters, Chelsea Clinton, Janet Reno, or Madeline Albright? No, none of these. Only conservative women have their looks held up to ridicule because only liberals would be so malevolent."

So malevolent? I punctured Coulter's claim in my blog devoted to Slander (click here and scroll down to "The Beauty Myth").

Here's a little gem from Godless that illustrates Coulter's hypocrisy:
The only sort of authority Cindy Sheehan has is the uncanny ability to demonstrate, by example, what body types should avoid wearing shorts in public. Godless, Page 128.

Divided We Stand has more.

Comments:
In this instance, Coulter can at least claim to be fighting fire with fire. (Fallacious fire, of course.) Inevitably, criticisms of Coulter's work degenerate into comments about her appearance, so perhaps she feels entitled to a few cheap shots.

She should be aware, however, that every potshot she makes robs her of whatever dignity she has left.

You are an idiot. Obviously you have no idea what Ann, or even you for that matter, is saying. The first quote you put up was talking about how the liberal media, or just liberals in general will try to make fun of the looks of conservatives, ignoring the uglies on their own side. That has nothing to do with the quote about Cindy Sheehan. But nice try, better luck next time.

First of all, this whole argument would be appropriate in a third grade classroom: "she said I was ugly!" "yeah, well he said I was ugly first! waaaa!" Really, is the level we've sunk to?

Second, the point of the post was to point out Ann Coulter's hyprocisy--hardly a difficult accomplishment. Coulter has whined about how a few supposed liberals poked fun at the looks of a few supposedly unattractive conservatives when, in fact, Coulter did the same thing. The blogger's point was well made through a direct citation of Coulter's book.

Scoobie,
I need to clarify one point of your criticism, as I feel it is important to be fair to Ann so that we do not stoop to her level.

Based on her comment quoted from Slander...

"Only conservative women have their looks held up to ridicule because only liberals would be so malevolent."

... you say that she is hypocritical and malevolent because she does exactly the same thing in her new book "Godless" - supported by evidence of examples like these, quoted from her book and excerpted in the review on my blog:

"Ugly feminists"; "Miss Landophi... is physically repulsive in appearance."; "The Greek midget [Dukakis]"; "Cindy Sheehan has the uncanny ability to demonstrate, by example, what body types should avoid wearing shorts in public"; "a big, sweaty, behemoth like Michael Moore"

Well and good, but here is the angle you may not have considered and where you may need to correct your blog. If Coulter is actually a Liberal, and Dukakis, Sheehan, Moore and the feminists she reference are actually Conservatives, then Coulter is not a hypocrite as you claim (although she would still be malevolent by her own description).

Just thought I would clear that up. - MW [always helpful]

First Ann is right. The reality is she is not really knocking Mother Sheehan looks but her taste in dressing. You know there is a difference. Given that Ms. Sheehan is over the hill and lets be honest for a woman of her age she looks okay but she should have a better since of what to wear. Given her body shape, shorts and a teeshirt are not flattering. Also some makeup would help.

The above comment is one of the most hilarious exercises in desperation and denial I have seen yet from one of AC's supporters.

(Also, note MW's comment. There are plenty more examples of AC hurling insults at people's looks.)
